That only works on tv. Just remember she is 10 times more frightened than you and getting lots of advice. She probably likes you so just be sensitive and not make the mistake paint her with that picture of men that most females get after meet the wrong person. Buy a gift for her.
Make sure she is comfortable watching a scary movie, if you think she is not, suggest a romantic comedy or something else. Your first goal is to make her feel comfortable around you. I wound't want her memory of our first date to be being scared. But if she is cool with it, then just play it cool. if she trys to grab your hand or cuddle with you go for it, but dont initiate it. Have something planned afterwards if she is a little scared to get her mind off of it.

'The Shining' wouldn't be my first choice if I was having a hot girl over. Although it is a good movie try something more recent like the remake of 'The Omen' or 'The Amityville Horror'. Granted, they're not the most terrifying films out there but they will make a girl jump... and in making a girl jump she'll get closer and hold on to you more. Most girls I know are into the newer stuff. 'White Noise' and 'The Grudge' are also good for that scary movie date. Try going for the scary drama type rather than the bloody stuff... trust me.
